One woman was killed and several others were injured in a devastating fire in Elmhurst, Queens.

Flames started on the first floor of the home on 83-32 Dongan Avenue just before 7 p.m. Monday and quickly rose to the top of the home and spread to neighboring buildings on both sides.

Crews were still searching for a person who was trapped in the basement who is still unaccounted for Tuesday morning.

A 34-year-old woman was killed, a 22-year-old man is listed in critical condition, six people are in stable condition, and two of them are just 10 and 13 years old.

Rescuing people was quite the challenge for the FDNY as some of the victims had to jump from windows to get out.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control around 1 a.m. Tuesday. The intense burst of orange flames glowed in the dark as thick gray and black smoke billowed into the air.
