There were multiple collapses of the structure, she said.
Five people were in the house at the time of the fire — four adults and one child, according to Campbell. Four were taken to a local hospital and one was taken to a trauma center.
The Division of Fire and Rescue Services posted on its Facebook page that the five people were evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were dispatched to Desmond Place at about 3:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
It took approximately 45 to 60 firefighters about two hours to battle the blaze, Campbell said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation later Tuesday.
The Facebook post says the fire started on the back deck area.
