VIDEO: Crews responded early Friday morning to a house fire that broke out in a rural area of West Richland, according to Ben Shearer, Public Information Officer for Benton County Fire District 4. Authorities received notification around 6 a.m., prompting multiple units to respond. Crews initially had trouble locating the fire, but the West Richland Police Department (WRPD) eventually found the residence off Harrington Road. Upon their arrival, police reported that the roof had already burned off. Fire crews from Benton County arrived shortly after and managed to contain the fire to the single home.
Benton County Coroner Bill Leach reported that two bodies associated with the incident have been found. Authorities were unable to identify the bodies due to the fire. According to Leach, an autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday, and further efforts will be made to identify the bodies during that process.
