A woman died from her injuries, and two firefighters were hurt after a Friday night house fire in Southeast DC, according to the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFEMS).

In a post to the X platform shortly before 9 p.m., crews responded to reports of a house fire in the 700 block of G St SE, with a woman trapped inside.

Firefighters said flames were found on the first floor and were contained before spreading to the rest of the home.

There, firefighters rescued the woman, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition. She died from her injuries on Sunday.

DCFEMS said two firefighters received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
