PHOTOS: Residents in Pacific Palisades say they’re fortunate after a massive tree came crashing down in their neighborhood. It landed on at least one car and damaged the outside of some homes, but no one was hurt.
“Man, I just got this vehicle,” said Masato Nakajima, Pacific Palisades resident. “And just seeing this, I’m kind of speechless.” “They really don’t know what happened until the peep out the window and all they can see is a big tree,” said Ceferino Pertubal, Pacific Palisades resident.
It happened around 11 p.m. on Monday. Many of the neighbors didn’t see what happened, but they definitely heard it. “In fact, my wife and my sister in law were already sleeping when that thing happened, and they thought it’s an earthquake because the house shakes,” said Pertubal.
The poster heard a “loud cracking sound then glass breaking” when the tree fell. One user commented under the post about the number of fallen trees on the island in the past five months. They expressed gratitude toward the Honolulu Fire Department for responding to these incidents and clearing the road.
