Firefighters battle building fire near Yale and I-44 in Tulsa

Share

The Tulsa Fire Department responded to a large building fire near I-44 and Yale on Thursday evening. Crews arrived at the scene at the former OYO/Studio Star hotel around 5 p.m. TFD says initial callers reported yellow and black smoke coming from multiple areas of the roof.

Firefighters say the building was previously declared unsafe for occupancy by the City of Tulsa, with no fire suppression or alarm systems. TFD says crews inside saw multiple holes in the upper floors, fire extending into the roof, and partial structural collapse and that command switched to defensive attack mode due to the deteriorating structural integrity.

Tulsa fire says firefighters used aerial ladders and multiple hose lines to help suppress the fire. TFD reports no people were injured.
